Weekly Bulletin

December 16, 2018

On this, the third Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of joy. This candle represents not just the joy of this season, but the joy found in Him alone! When people in the Christmas story are shown His majesty, they worship Him with hearts full of joy. Our hearts will be made joyful upon His return; therefore, we worship Him now in expectation of His return.

The world was a dark and dreary place

But not without great hope

For the promise of Messiah

Helped God’s people to cope.

They dreamed of this great savior,

A man of wealth and power,

Palaces and armies

To make their foes to cower.

They could never fathom

God’s actual saving plan,

That into spiritual darkness

Christ would come as a poor man.

The birth of Light first proclaimed

By a star uncommon bright,

Seen by kings and shepherds,

Cutting through the night.

Starlight and angel choirs

Announced this baby’s birth,

Centuries of darkness pierced

When Jesus came to earth.

His humble birth changed everything.

He lived.  He died.  He rose.

His life showed others how to live.

Today His kingdom grows.

Sometimes we feel this world is dark,

That somehow evil wins.

We need to seek the Light of Christ

That erases all our sins.

Remember that He’s saved us.

God has already won.

The darkness was destroyed for good

The day He sent His Son. ~ Jill Jeffrey
